Hello

Let me
introduce myself

My Story

I’m Stephanie Shubert, a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist providing online counseling to families in Colorado, New York, Florida, and California. I was born and raised in West Michigan. I graduated from Central Michigan University in 2002 and began a career as a special education teacher, where I gained experience working with kids at all grade levels.  I loved working with kids and the energy that teaching brings, but I found myself wanting to work with the families in a different way to help create better foundations for their quality of life.

With this goal in mind, I pursued my masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Capella University and began my new career in 2016 in Colorado Springs, CO. I have specialized training in working with individuals and couples utilizing  Emotionally Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Brainspotting.

I've been married to a soldier for 16 years and we have 3 school-aged children together. I love reading, yoga and exploring the different areas we've been lucky enough to live due to our military moves. We're currently settled in upstate New York near Fort Drum and I am looking forward to staying here indefinitely!

As a marriage and family therapist, I can work with you individually or as a family to help you design a life that feels more authentic and fulfilling. I can help your family shift communication patterns and feel safer in your relationships.

As a military spouse and former special education teacher, I can help you navigate the resources available to you and support you as you curate what is working and what is not. I understand the challenges of uncertainty and feeling overwhelmed with all the roles we take on.

As a mother, I will listen to your honesty and encourage you to recognize how shame and guilt can impact your ability to be fully present with your family. I understand how overwhelming it can be to balance the roles we carry.

As a fellow human, I know how scary it can be to step out of the routine and busy-ness of life to get back in touch with yourself and your values. I can offer compassion, insights, and encouragement to help you find that best version of  yourself that you're seeking.
