Hello

Let me
introduce myself

My Story

I’m Stephanie Shubert, a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist providing online counseling to families in Colorado, Michigan, Florida, and California. I was born and raised in West Michigan. I graduated from Central Michigan University in 2002 and began a career as a special education teacher, where I gained experience working with kids at all grade levels.  I loved working with kids and the energy that teaching brings, but I found myself wanting to work with the families in a different way to help create better foundations for their quality of life.

With this goal in mind, I pursued my masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Capella University and began my new career in 2016 in Colorado Springs, CO. I have specialized training in working with individuals and couples utilizing  Emotionally Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Brainspotting.

I've been married to a soldier for 13 years and we have 3 school-aged children together. I love yoga and exploring the different areas we've been lucky enough to live due to our military moves.  We're currently stationed in the high desert of  Southern California, but wherever we are, we try to hike and camp as much as possible because I feel most at ease in nature.

As a marriage and family therapist, I can work with you individually or as a family to help you design a life that feels more authentic and fulfilling. I can help your family shift communication patterns and feel safer in your relationships.

As a military spouse and former special education teacher, I can help you navigate the resources available to you and support you as you curate what is working and what is not. I understand the challenges of uncertainty and feeling overwhelmed with all the roles we take on.

As a mother, I will listen to your honesty and encourage you to recognize how shame and guilt can impact your ability to be fully present with your family. I understand how overwhelming it can be to balance the roles we carry.

As a fellow human, I know how scary it can be to step out of the routine and busy-ness of life to get back in touch with yourself and your values. I can offer compassion, insights, and encouragement to help you find that best version of  yourself that you're seeking.
